The Gift You Have Been Given

As I take a moment to reflect on this past week and how much has changed since my last message, the word that comes to the top of my mind is perspective.

As a small business owner, this is no doubt a time that is scary. Most of my business is run around corporate or public events, so I am dealing with the same fears that you may have in your business right now:

Fear of the unknown.

Fear of change.

Fear of what’s next?

These “fears” are what we are all experiencing in any of our businesses no matter what size our business is at this moment. I am no different than anyone out there and have the same challenges and questions.

I wanted to share with you how I am dealing with this personally so I can possibly help you as we will continue to be faced with new questions in the coming weeks.

Change can be beautiful and scary at the same time. Sometimes in the fear we break down, but that is when breakthrough happens.

For me, I shift my mindset from fear to opportunity. I am currently in the midst of moving many of my workshops to a more consistent virtual platform for the time being and as scary as that is for me (I am technologically challenged to say the least), I view this shift as an opportunity for me to learn and grow. Yes, it will be tough and yes, I truly enjoy the face-to-face interaction and energy a room full of people brings, but how many more people I will be able to reach by doing this?

That is a gift right there.

Schools are closed here for at least a couple of weeks and sporting venues are canceled. Add to this scenario, my schedule has slowed down quite a bit which allows me to enjoy more moments with my two boys, being home, and time I can never get back with them.

That is a gift right there.

I won’t be traveling as much as planned for a couple of months, but now I can spend more time with my family, leverage the time to adapt my business to virtual platforms, and put more thought into my writings to be shared with my audience.

That is a gift right there.

So, I leave you with this message to inspire you to look at things differently. Yes, we will all be affected in some way during this moment in history, but what did it give us that we may never have experienced if we were running around on our hamster wheels of life as usual?

The key areas of focus in this moment are: healthevolveadapt and attitude.

There is a small gift buried in all the stress and concern we are all experiencing – the gift of time. Whether we like it or not, the current conditions are forcing us to pause and slow our busy schedules. How you spend this time is now up to you.

Peace,

Kelly
