You can borrow mine.

I BELIEVE IN YOU.

I will never forget the emptiness I felt a few years ago when I had lost my purpose and didn’t feel valued any longer in my job. I had worked so hard for 20+ years and gave my heart to my career. It hurt more than anything when I felt that I wasn’t needed or able to provide value to anyone any longer. There was a hole within me that harbored a lot of pain. I didn’t know it at the time, but there was PURPOSE in my PAIN.

Let’s be honest here.

I feel confident in saying we all seek the same two things in life:
To feel valued.
To feel heard.

And when we lose those basic human needs, we begin to wonder what our purpose has become.

I lost my confidence, my self-belief during that time, and I lost my purpose.

I also know that it is so hard to find our confidence for many during this season of life. Let’s not forget that we sometimes need to borrow the belief that others have in us. For me, I borrowed the belief that my mentor had in me at that time. That was a lifeline of sorts when my own tank was empty, it was what gave me the courage to restart my internal engine once again.

WHO IS THAT PERSON IN YOUR LIFE? IT CAN BE YOUR MENTOR, SPOUSE, PARTNER, FRIEND, OR FAMILY MEMBER.

It is amazing to think how powerful those four little words – “I believe in you” – can be for someone. It is like putting gasoline on a fire that had burned out and was looking for a way to restart.

Those words for me were a borrowed belief that gave me the confidence to get back up and use what gift I had within me to start.

I don’t know when the last time you heard those words were. I don’t know if you are feeling lost. I don’t know if you have lost your purpose because you have been running on the hamster wheel of life like I was. I don’t know if you feel deflated and defeated because you try so hard, yet no one seems to notice how hard you try.

But I do know this.

I BELIEVE IN YOU, so feel free to borrow my belief until you find yours again.

If you are feeling isolated and alone, I invite you to join me in a Coffee with Kelly event. I host them each Friday, for anyone out there, in any part of the world, who has lost a sense of purpose and wants to feel valued and heard. They are free for everyone and you can register here.
